HUSTLE FOR KENYA

Hustle hard and grind with purpose. This message rests at the core of our foundation for the Hustle for Kenya basketball camp. Our two-day basketball camp for underprivileged boys and girls aged 10-18 is designed to use basketball as a platform to provide a unique experience to the Kenyan youth that would otherwise be unavailable to them. The camp teaches sport-specific skills such as shooting, ball handling, footwork and passing. These fundamental skills provide the framework for young athletes to continue to build upon so that they can create opportunities to achieve higher education and athletic accomplishments.

We launched the first training camp in May 2015 with over 120 athletes in attendance. Since then, our program has grown to include hand-selected youth with the goal to continue to host annual basketball camps and ensure the growth of developmental skills that further life accomplishments.

BATTLE OF THE TRIBES

Hustle Hard Global thrives on the empowerment of women in the home and in the community. Our vision to see women progress in their personal environment birthed the establishment of the Battle of the Tribes tournament. The tournament strives to answer the question that so many women around the world ask: “What about us?” This female-exclusive, two-day tournament creates a competitive environment for young women in Kenya and paves the way for new opportunities, leadership and confidence building.

The first tournament was held in December of 2016 with over 300 athletes and attendees. The fun-filled event featured a local DJ, host, giveaways and special guest appearances by Nazizi and Nonini, two well-known Kenyan artists. The artists shared advice with the youth and encouraged them to stay in school and work hard in order to succeed in life.

We are working on expanding the tournament to neighboring countries of East Africa such as Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania and South Sudan.

Resources Provided to each Athlete:

  • T-shirts

  • Medals

  • Certificates

“We believe there is a wealth of untapped talent and a lack of opportunity in East Africa for young athletes, so we want to foster a competitive and exciting atmosphere for the youth to showcase their skills against teams from neighboring countries.”

- Megan McCartney, Co-founder of Hustle Hard Global

HUSTLE HARD SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The Hustle Hard Scholarship Program was created to alleviate the financial hardships of underprivileged student-athletes. Staying true to our mission, we seek to continue to encourage education by providing scholarships that support a full year’s tuition.

Many of the athletes that attend our training camps are forced to decide at an early age between education and providing for their families. These scholarships ensure that the burdens of financial affliction will not rest on the families of the athletes and hinder learning opportunities. Each scholarship recipient is hand-selected based on their family’s financial necessity.

Our donors are provided regular updates on the progress of sponsored students and see the fruits of their contributions.

“I would like to thank Hustle Hard, Humility Clothing Company and Lady Elite Flag Football team for providing me with the opportunity to continue my education, which will help me achieve the goals I have set for myself. Thank you.” - Alice Waithera (Hustle Hard Scholarship Recipient)
